Floating Deck

Two years prior, I had replaced/re-built the rear deck on this 100 year old home for a friend. Now the owner wanted a deck extension where they could have dinners and take in the late afternoon sun, but didn't want concrete footings. I dug down to firm soil and laid gravel, and then put blocks down for the 4x4 girder system, then built a 2x6 joist frame. The decking is 5/4" treated pine. The deck intersects what was the staircase, and I levelled the new deck to the first step down.
